Christmas just isn’t Christmas without playing games – board games, activity games, any games, I just love playing them.
Here is a list of mine & my families favourite games to play at Christmas 🎄
Walnut on a Spoon
This is a traditional family game, that my dad created. Well he thinks he did, god knows if he actually did. The aim of the game is to be the last one with your walnut still on your spoon… stay with me!!
So, everyone needs a spoon, a walnut and a room with some space to move about. You Pop the walnut on your spoon and hold it out with one arm, the other arm you place behind your back & it has to stay there. You then run around the room trying to knock everyone else’s walnut off the spoon whilst keeping your own on. If your walnut falls off you are out. It’s simple & silly but fucking hilarious. We love playing it.
If you loved Pictionary as a child, get ready to meet our adult party game – Scrawl! Each player is given a clipboard and takes a scenario card, ready to create a masterpiece! Cards include scenarios such as ‘Darth Vader’s Day Job’ and ‘Giraffe Limbo Contest’. Once each player has drawn their scenario, they pass their clipboard to the left and the next player scrawls down what they think they’re looking at! It’s a perfect drinking game!
Obama Llama is a weird and wonderful family party game with hundreds of rhyming charades. There’s Tom Cruise in his platform shoes, Angelina Jolie eating ravioli and of course Barack Obama riding a llama. Your job is to describe a rhyme, with your team trying to guess as many as they can in 30 seconds.
Whose in the Bag
Whose in the Bag is an incredibly popular game that test your skills at verbal charades. The object of the game is for each team, in turn to identify as many famous characters on the cards as possible in a race against the clock. Everything you need is in the bag including a timer and blanks to create your own special characters. If the team guess the identity of the character correctly they keep the card and draw another from the bag. You can act, sing, impersonate, mime or describe the personality –just don’t mention the name! If you do the go is forfeited and the bag passes to the next team. Once the bag is empty the team with the most cards wins. This game is for 4 or more players and suitable for ages 8 and up.
Big Mouth – the hilarious mouthpiece phrase game taking the UK by storm! The aim? Win cards by correctly guessing your partners phrase. Sounds easy? Think again, saying the phrases whilst wearing one of the mouthpieces provided makes things much more interesting. At the end of the game, the team with the most cards wins! Trust us, it’s hilarious! The UK edition has 200 comical phrases guaranteed to even get your Granny giggling! Importantly, Big Mouth UK edition has more relevant phrases than the American alternates currently available in the UK Market.
Heads Up is an App you can download to your phone for free. It’s the fun and hilarious game that Ellen DeGeneres plays on her show — and now you can play it with your friends! From naming celebrities, to singing, to silly accents — guess the word on the card that’s on your head from your friends’ clues before the timer runs out!
The Big Taboo
This game mixes oral tests, mime and drawing. The general principle remains very near to the basic play of the Taboo game. Just like the Taboo you know and love, but with 4 unspeakable ways to play! Race against the timer to get as many guess words as possible. Will you have to draw them, use as few words as possible to describe them, play Classic Taboo or twist Bendy Bob to help your team guess them? You even have a chance at a brain-bending memory round!
What are you favourite Christmas Games?? If this post has inspired someone to play Walnut on a Spoon my Dad will actual love life.
