Blogmas Day 20 – Favourite Christmas Adverts

Does anyone else get really excited to see what adverts are going to be released for the Christmas Period. I think John Lewis have really instilled this into British Christmas Traditions. There are people that bet on what the JL advert will be about & the song that will be featured… their marketing department is genius & they made the Christmas Advert something special & highly anticipated.

Quality Street – 1994

This advert is pure nostalgia for me. My brother gained a life long nick name of Johnson from this advert. He was 3 when it came out and this kid just reminded my dad of him.’Ello Mr Johnson’ became a family saying and it takes me right back to being a kid at Christmas.

Sainsbury’s – Christmas 2014

I cannot watch this advert without tearing up. It is such an important piece of history depicted wonderfully. Sainsbury’s really won Christmas that year.

If you like Christmas Books then Carol Ann Duffy, Poet Laurette wrote a poem telling this tale. It is called The Christmas Truce and it is absolutely beautifully written and illustrated by David Roberts. It is one of my favourite Christmas books, truly celebrates the magic of Christmas.

John Lewis

Like I said John Lewis are fantastic at Christmas Adverts. I couldn’t pick just one so I have to. Monty the Penguin & The Long Wait. Monty the Penguin is wonderful heart breaking andย  touching. I always thought my toys came to life ( I still do) so this really resonates with me and The Long Wait because it is just so lovely & Please Please Please is one of my most loved songs by my favourite band The Smiths. It just goes so well.

Coca-Cola

Because is it even Christmas until you have seen this advert? Does anyone else say “right it is Christmas now, I have seen the Coca Cola advert”?

Toys R Us

Was there anything more exciting than hearing this song as a kid? GIVE ME ALL THE TOYS!!!!!

I could go on with favourite adverts but I will leave it here – a mix of old and new.

What’s your favourite Christmas Advert?ย

    1. I know Monty the Penguin was just the best. This years one was just not the same, I loved the song but the concept didnโ€™t make sense and didnโ€™t make me cry – and it needs to make me cry!!! Thank you lovely ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’•xx
